![]() VM froze completely when I clicked on icon in system tray cursor would not move (information balloon had opened from icon telling me that new Windows updates were available).Īlthough the cursor moved outside the Windows environment on my screens, the Mac user interface was also completely frozen. I've now had a similar, but not identical, occurence on my dual Quad Core Xeon 2.8 GHz Mac Pro (VM is Windows Home Premium). I see that there have been a few other reports of kernel panics in Fusion 4.0.1. I'm wondering if they'd be of any use to VMware staff or expert users. I know that panic logs are stored somewhere on my Mac. So, I have a non-reproducible (at least for now) event. I rebooted the VM, which seemed to proceed at its normal pace, opened Outlook again, which also functioned normally, asking me if I wanted to connect to my Exchange Server using Outlook Anywhere. I quit from Outlook and relaunched it, and this time it did find my Exchange Server. ![]() It took a LONG time, and afterwards when I opened Outlook 2007 it reported it couldn't find my Server (remote access via Outlook Anywhere). Clicking this initiated a Windows 7 boot and offered me repair options or to allow Win 7 to boot normally, which I selected. ![]() So, I quit from all open apps, launched Fusion 4.0.1, and found my virtual machine either off or suspended (black window background with the large "run" triangle in the middle of the window). I've used it for an hour or so running several apps (my email clients, web browser, etc.) in the Mac OS. Afterwards, I could move the cursor, but no apps responded to mouseclicks, and a few seconds later still, I received onscreen notification of a kernel panic. However, perhaps 10 seconds after I did this, the entire screen flashed with horizontal stripes at a rate of perhaps 5-10 Hz for half a second or so. I could toggle the light on the Caps Lock key (shows that something fundamental was still working). ![]() The machine wouldn't respond to Keystroke combo to open Spotlight (so that I could launch Activity Monitor) or to (to see if there were individual non-responding apps. I never had problems with Fusion 3, but this morning while Fusion 4.0.1 was loading its VM as a background app, my entire Mac display froze (cursor wouldn't move, keystroke shortcuts wouldn't work, etc. Message title describes my environment, running on a MacBook Pro 5.3 with 8 GB RAM. ![]()
